Prof. Dr. med. Matthias Jäger is a specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy and has worked as Director of Adult Psychiatry at Psychiatrie Baselland since 2018. He is a lecturer in the human medicine course at the Universities of Zurich and Basel and heads a research group at the Psychiatric University Hospital Zurich. He studied medicine in Giessen (D) and Amsterdam (NL) and worked in various positions at the Psychiatric University Hospital Zurich from 2005 to 2018, most recently as head of the Centre for Acute Mental Disorders. His professional interests lie in the field of clinical social psychiatry and psychiatric care research with a focus on housing and employment for people with mental disorders, aggression and coercion in psychiatric settings, and recovery concepts.
